SYMPTOMS

When you try to play a movie in a converted Word 5.x or 6.x document in Microsoft Word 98, you may receive the following error message:

Word Cannot Edit the Microsoft Movie.

CAUSE

You do not have the MS Movie Plug In Module (PIM) installed.

RESOLUTION

To play a movie in Word 98 from a converted Word 5.x or 6.x document, you must have the MS Movie PIM installed. The MS Movie PIM is included in the Value Pack and can be installed by running the Value Pack Installer. When you install Microsoft Movie, the file "Microsoft Movie" is added to the Microsoft Office 98:Shared Applications folder.

MORE INFORMATION

Word 98 has true built-in QuickTime movie playing capabilities, which is different from earlier versions of Word. Earlier versions used a MS Movie Plug In Module (PIM) to play movies.
