WD98: Word Settings (8) File Opened in Text-Only Format

SYMPTOMS

If you double-click the Word Settings(8) file, it will start Microsoft Word with the following message:

   Word can only convert Word 5.0 and 5.1 setting files.

Clicking OK will activate Word without an open document.

This file is a resource file used by Word to save settings such as those that you set from the Preferences command on the Tools menu. By default, this file is stored in the System:Preferences folder.
