The information in this article applies to:
Excel 3.0 allows you to create a chart by clicking the Chart icon on the ribbon, then clicking and dragging an outline of the chart on the spreadsheet. This chart can be pasted into Word for Windows. However, this type of chart will not work for Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).
To create a DDE link between a chart in Excel 3.0 and Word for Windows, you must do the following:
1. Enter the data into the spreadsheet.
2. Highlight the data to be used in the chart.
3. From the File menu, choose New.
4. Select Chart and choose OK.
5. Add formatting if necessary.
6. From the File menu, choose Save to save the chart.
1. From the Chart menu, choose Select Chart.
2. From the Edit menu, choose the Copy command.
1. Open Word for Windows.
2. Move the insertion point to where the chart is to be placed.
Word for Windows Version 1.0 and 1.1
From the Edit menu, choose Paste Link and choose OK.
Word for Windows 2.0
From the Edit menu, choose Paste Special, select Picture and
choose Paste Link.
