WinWord: NUMWORDS Field Shows Incorrect Number of Words

SUMMARY

The NUMWORDS field inserts the number of words that were in the document the last time you printed or updated the word count in the Statistics dialog box. The word count may be inaccurate even if you edited the document and updated the field.

To correct this problem, choose Summary Info from the File menu, choose the Statistics button, and then choose the Update button. Press ENTER to complete the update process.

Word for Windows Version 1.x

To correct this problem, choose Summary Info from the Edit menu, choose the Statistics button, and then the Update button; or, you can simply print the document.

For all versions of Word for Windows, the Statistics dialog box contains the following fields:

   File Name
   Directory
   Template
   Title
   Creation Date
   Last Saved Date
   Last Saved By
   Revision number
   Total editing Time
   Last printed
   As of Last Update:
     # of pages
     # of words
     # of characters
