The information in this article applies to:
If you start Word for Windows from the TopDesk virtual desktop, the "Tip of the Day" and all subsequent dialog boxes maximize.
TopDesk sends Windows maximize calls when you start a Windows-based application. These calls maximize the application, then they maximize any dialog boxes that appear at startup, such as "Tip of the Day." TopDesk then continues to maximize any dialog box as it appears.
If no start-up dialog boxes appear, TopDesk does not maximize any dialog boxes.
We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
Turn off the "Tip of the Day" option in Word to prevent TopDesk from maximizing the Word dialog boxes.
TopDesk is a virtual desktop supplied with Microsoft Windows Resource Kit version 2.0.
In Word version 2.x for Windows, a similar problem occurs if you run an AutoExec macro that opens a dialog box at startup. For example, if your AutoExec macro runs the MsgBox statement, TopDesk maximizes the resulting Message Box dialog box.
