There is no direct way for Microsoft Word for Windows to read a Microsoft Windows cardfile file. However, a cardfile may be imported by printing the cardfile to a file using the Generic/Text-Only printer driver, then importing the file as text.
To work around this problem, choose one of the following methods:
To import a cardfile file into Word, do the following:
a. Install the Generic/Text Only printer driver.
b. Connect the Generic/Text Only driver to the File port.
c. Open Cardfile, then load the appropriate cardfile.
d. In Cardfile, choose Printer Setup from the File menu, and
select the Generic/Text Only printer on File.
e. In Cardfile, choose Print All from the File menu.
f. A dialog box will pop up, requesting a filename to print to.
Provide a suitable name and a path, if desired.
g. Start Word for Windows.
h. In Word for Windows, choose Open from the File menu, and open
the printer file, using the same name provided in step f,
above.
i. Word for Windows will display a list of conversion choices.
Choose Text in the Convert From list box, then choose OK to
begin the conversion.
j. The cardfile will now be displayed in Word for Windows, ready
for further editing.
