You choose the option to sign up for a new MSN Internet Access account, but Setup stops at the credit card authorization step (because of an invalid credit card, and over limit credit card, etc.). You uninstall 6.1, and then install MSN Explorer 6.0. You go through the new MSN Internet Access account set up process, completing the process successfully. You then install MSN Explorer 6.1 and you try to sign in. MSN Explorer attempts to sign you in without dialing, tries five times to sign you in, and then returns an error message. CAUSE ===== This is a known issue. RESOLUTION ========== Reset the connection settings in MSN Explorer to use the default dial-up connection. To reset the connection settings in MSN Explorer and use the default dial-up connection 1. Start MSN Explorer 6.1, and then, on the Welcome screen, click Connection Settings. 2. Click Change how to connect to the Internet, and then click OK. 3. Click MSN Dial-up Internet Access, and then click OK. 4. Follow the directions for setting up MSN Explorer to use the default dialer.
