The minimum requirements for Macintosh Internet Explorer 5.x are as follows:

 - Macintosh Operating System 7.6.1 or later

 - 8 MB or RAM with virtual memory enabled

 - 12 MB of available hard disk space for Internet Explorer

 - QuickTime version 3.0 or later

 - Open Transport 1.2 or later (for dial up connections)

 - OT Point to Point Protocol (PPP) or similar PPP connection software (control
   panel) with PPP (extension)

 - 28.8 kbps modem or higher

 - Access to the Internet through an Internet service provider (ISP) or the
   network to which your computer is connected

To set Internet Explorer as the default Web browser in Macintosh OS 9.x

1. On the Apple menu, point to Control Panels, and click Internet.

2. Verify that the Active Set and Edit Set match.

3. Click the Web tab.

4. Select Microsoft Internet Explorer as the Default Web Browser.

To set Internet Explorer as default Web browser in Macintosh OS X

1. On the Apple menu, click System Preferences.

2. Under the heading Internet and Network, click Internet.

3. Click the Web tab.

4. Select Internet Explorer as the Default Web Browser.
   Note: If Internet Explorer is not listed in the Default Web Browser menu,
   click Select and browse to the location of Internet Explorer on the hard
   drive.
