The information in this article applies to:
In Microsoft Excel, when you select the Create From File tab in the Object dialog box, if you select a directory other than the current directory, and press ENTER, the current directory does not change. You cannot change to either a subdirectory, or a parent directory using the ENTER key.
This problem only occurs on the Create From File tab in the Object dialog box. When you press ENTER, the current directory is not changed to the directory that you selected from the Directories list. Instead, the current directory is selected.
Note that the same problem occurs when you choose the OK button in this dialog box.
To change the current directory that appears on the Create From File tab in the Object dialog box, do either of the following:
METHOD 1: If you do not have a mouse, use the following procedure:
a. Press ALT+N to activate the File Name box.
b. Type the full path of the directory to which you want to
change, for example:
c:\excel\files
c. Press ENTER.
METHOD 2: Using the mouse, double-click the directory that you want to be
the current directory.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in a later version of Microsoft Excel.
