The information in this article applies to:
In Microsoft Excel, if you are using a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500 printer that is set to print at lower resolutions (150 or 75 dots per inch [dpi]), you can only print using a small set of printer fonts. Other fonts, such as TrueType and screen fonts, cannot be printed: a printer font will be substituted for these fonts when you print your document or view the document in print preview.
Note that this problem also occurs with Microsoft Excel 4.0 running under Windows 95 when you use the DeskJet 500 driver that is supplied with Windows 95.
When you print at lower resolutions, only a small number of fonts are actually printable. Microsoft Excel always displays both TrueType and screen fonts in the list of available fonts. However, the only fonts that you can print at lower resolutions, such as 75 or 150 dots per inch, are printer fonts.
The fonts that are available to print when the current printer is an HP DeskJet 500 set to 75 or 150 dots per inch are the following:
CG Times
Courier 10 pitch
Courier 16.67 pitch
Courier 20 pitch
Courier 5 pitch
Letter Gothic 12 pitch
Letter Gothic 24 pitch
Letter Gothic 6 pitch
To print other TrueType and printer fonts, the HP DeskJet 500 must be set
to print at a resolution of 300 dpi.
