The information in this article applies to:
When you work in a Microsoft Excel 5.0 workbook with the same name as a worksheet (less the three letter extension on the sheet name), and when it the only sheet in the workbook, a Solver error message will result when you attempt to save a Solver model. Solver will display the following error message:
Solver: An unexpected internal error occurred, or available memory
was exhausted ($C$461). Please verify that your model is correctly
entered and all cells contain numeric values.
To avoid the Solver error message, use either of the following methods:
Method 1: Use a filename that is different from the worksheet name. For
example, if your file is saved as TEST.XLS and the worksheet name
is TEST, change the worksheet name to "TEST FILE" (or any name
other than "test").
Method 2: Add additional worksheets to the workbook.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0c.
