The information in this article applies to:
On page 23 of the "Visual Basic User's Guide," the second paragraph states the following:
Then the workbook is stored in the startup directory or folder named
PERSONAL.XLS (in Microsoft Excel for Windows) or PERSONAL MACRO
WORKBOOK (in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh).
This statement is misleading. The startup directory in Microsoft Excel for
Windows is named XLSTART not PERSONAL.XLS. The startup folder in Microsoft
Excel for the Macintosh is named "EXCEL STARTUP FOLDER (5)" not "PERSONAL
MACRO WORKBOOK."
The statement should state the following:
Then the workbook is stored in the startup directory or folder and
is named PERSONAL.XLS (in Microsoft Excel for Windows) or PERSONAL
MACRO WORKBOOK (in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh).
PERSONAL.XLS (in Microsoft Excel for Windows) and PERSONAL MACRO WORKBOOK
(in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh) is a hidden workbook used to store
macros that you want to use in a variety of workbooks.
For more information about using these workbooks, see page 22 in the "Visual Basic User's Guide" for Microsoft Excel version 5.0.
