When Microsoft Excel creates a "pick list," your computer may appear to stop responding (hang).
To create a pick list, use the right mouse button to click any cell in, above, or below a list of data, and click the Pick From List command. Microsoft Excel creates a list of the current data; you can use this list to quickly enter data in the selected cell.
The hourglass is not displayed as the pick list is being created and sorted. Microsoft Excel may take a long time to create a pick list (especially if the list being generated is very large). Because the hourglass in not displayed, it may appear that your computer has stopped responding.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
