XL7: Customizing Template Causes Template Toolbar to Disappear

SYMPTOMS

When you customize a Microsoft Excel 7.0 Spreadsheet Solutions template, the template toolbar may disappear.

CAUSE

It is possible to remove the template toolbar by customizing and locking the first instance of the template, opening a second instance, and then closing the second instance. When you close the second instance, the template toolbar disappears. It will also be removed from the Toolbars menu item on the View menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
