In Microsoft Excel 7.0, if you use the Template Wizard to create a database template that is based on a database other than Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access, the following error message may appear if you click Help:
The topic does not exist. Contact your application vendor for an updated
Help file.
This problem occurs because the Help topic does not exist. You may see this behavior when you specify a dBASE or Microsoft FoxPro database in the Template Wizard, and you click Help on the following message:
Cannot open <database program> Database <folder name><file name>
When the "Cannot open..." message appears, click OK, then click Help in the Template Wizard in the Step 2 of 5 window.
NOTE: To create a database template that is based on a dBASE or FoxPro database, you must enable the ODBC add-in in Microsoft Excel. To do this, click Add-Ins on the Tools menu and select the ODBC Add-In option.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
The Template Wizard can automatically copy the contents of cells to a database each time you save a workbook that is based on a template. The Template Wizard walks you through the steps of linking cells in the template to a field in a database or a Microsoft Excel List.
For more information about how to create a template using the Template Wizard, click the Index tab in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text
Template
double-click the selected text, and then double-click "Create a template to
export worksheet data to a database" to go to the "Create A Template To
Export Worksheet Data To A Database" topic.
