When you copy or cut a Data Map that was created on a sheet that has been renamed, and you paste it into a different workbook, you will receive the following error message when you double-click the map:
An error has occurred while retrieving data from Microsoft Excel
To work around this problem, click Paste Special on the Edit menu and paste the map as a picture. The Data Map is not linked to the source data.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
When you copy data, the error message will appear if you rename the sheet before you create the map. If you rename the sheet after you have created the Data Map the data will be lost but you will not receive the error message. When you cut data, the error will appear regardless of when the sheet was renamed.
