When you try to open the Microsoft Access Readme.txt or Network.txt, you may receive the following error message:
Windows cannot find Deskedit.exe
This file is needed for opening files of type 'Text Document'
This error results when Norton Desktop for Windows, one of the Norton utilities, has been deleted from your computer. This change causes Windows 95 to lose the association with the .txt files.
In Windows Explorer, associate your text files with Notepad, as follows:
1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, click the View menu, and then click
Options.
2. Click the File Types tab.
3. In the list of file types, click Text Document. The settings for that
file type are shown in the File Type Details box.
4. Click Edit.
5. In the Actions box, click Open.
6. Click Edit, and then specify the program you want to use to open files
that have this extension. (If Notepad.exe is in its default location,
type "c:\windows\notepad.exe" (without the quotation marks), and then
click OK.)
Norton Utilities is manufactured by Peter Norton Computing, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
For more information about associating files, search the Windows 95 Help Index for "files, associating with programs," and then "Changing which program starts when you open a file."
