The information in this article applies to:
In Microsoft Excel 97, if you select a drawing object or AutoShape and attempt to use a drag-and-drop operation to place the object on the Windows desktop, the cursor becomes a circle with a diagonal line through it, and the drawing object does not appear on the desktop.
This functionality is not available in Microsoft Excel 97.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
In Microsoft Excel version 7.0, you can drag a drawing object from a Microsoft Excel worksheet and place it on the Windows desktop. When you place a drawing object on the Windows desktop in this way, a "scrap" file is created.
For more information about using a drag-and-drop operation to move a drawing object or AutoShape in Microsoft Excel, click the Index tab in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text
drawing objects, moving
and then double-click the selected text to go to the "Move a drawing object
or set of objects" topic.
