To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
If possible, move the chart sheet to an location in the workbook. After you move the chart sheet, you can browse to a location in the workbook when you create the hyperlink.
If you do not move the chart sheet, you cannot browse to a location in the active workbook. In this case, you must manually type the location in the "Named location in file (optional)" box.
For example, if there are two worksheets, Sheet1 and Sheet2, in a workbook, and you want to create a hyperlink in cell A1 of Sheet1 to cell A1 in Sheet2, do the following:
1. Select cell A1 in Sheet1.
2. On the Insert menu, click Hyperlink.
3. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, type "Sheet2!A1" (without the
quotation marks) in the "Named location in file (optional)" box.
4. Click OK.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
You do not receive an error message if you browse a defined name in the workbook, even if the chart sheet is the first sheet in the workbook.
For example, if there are two worksheets, Sheet1 and Sheet2, in a workbook, and you want to create a hyperlink in cell A1 of Sheet1 to a defined name called Myrange, do the following:
1. Select cell A1 in Sheet1.
2. On the Insert menu, click Hyperlink.
3. Click "Named location in file (optional)."
4. In the "Browse Excel Workbook" dialog box, click Defined Name, and then
select Myrange in the list of defined names under Defined Name.
5. Click OK.
