In Microsoft Excel 97, when you open a workbook that contains a picture object, the picture object may be slightly larger in size than in earlier version of Microsoft Excel.
This behavior occurs when you do the following:

NOTE: When you insert a picture, Microsoft Excel automatically places a border around it.
To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods.
To remove the border, follow these steps:
1. Right-click the picture and click Format Picture.
2. Click the Colors And Lines tab.
3. Click the Color list and click No Line.
4. Click OK and save the workbook.
To resize the picture, follow these steps:
1. Click to select the picture.
2. Click and drag one of the fill handles to resize the picture.
For more information about formatting pictures, click Contents And Index on the Help menu, click the Index tab in Microsoft Excel 97 Help, and type the following text:

then double-click the selected text to go to the "Insert and edit a picture
or clip art" topic.
