SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, if you click Paste As Hyperlink on the Edit menu, or if you drag a cell while holding down the CONTROL key on the keyboard, and then click Create Hyperlink Here on the shortcut menu, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Excel cannot paste the data. CAUSEThis problem occurs if you have not saved the active workbook at least once.
RESOLUTIONTo prevent this problem from occurring, save the workbook. After you save the workbook, you can create the hyperlink.
STATUSThis behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
MORE INFORMATIONIn Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, the Paste As Hyperlink menu command is unavailable (dimmed) if you have not saved the workbook at least once. In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, the menu item is not dimmed, but you cannot use it unless you save the workbook.
