ACC: Paradox Password Protection Bypassed by Multiple UsersID: Q117609
|
Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.
When you link (attach) a password-protected Paradox table nonexclusively to
a Microsoft Access database, the table behaves normally, enabling you to
view the table's contents after you supply the correct password. However,
once the password has been supplied by a user, any other user can then open
the linked table and view its contents without supplying a password.
The entire file is decrypted when a user opens it with the correct password.
Open the linked Paradox table exclusively, so that other users cannot open it.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 2.0, 7.0 and 97.
For more information about linking Paradox tables, search for "Paradox databases, importing and linking," and then "Import or link Paradox tables" using the Microsoft Access version 7.0 Help Index.
