SYMPTOMSWhen you save a workbook as an add-in in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, it is possible to choose a file format other than the add-in format.
WORKAROUNDWhen you save the workbook, verify that you are saving the workbook in Microsoft Excel Add-In file format. To do save an add-in, follow these steps:

MORE INFORMATIONAdd-ins are programs that add optional commands and features to Microsoft Excel. Add-ins are installed, by default, in the Library folder in the Microsoft Excel folder. Loading an add-in makes the feature available in Microsoft Excel and adds any associated commands to the appropriate menus.
