SUMMARY
=======

To play Microsoft Outwars with other players, you must install DirectPlay
version 5.0a or later. The Outwars Setup program installs DirectPlay 5.0a during
the installation of DirectX.

If you choose not to install DirectX when you install Outwars, follow these
steps to install DirectPlay 5.0a:

1. Insert the Outwars Disc 1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down
   the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent the program from starting
   automatically.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

   <drive>:\Dplay50a\Dplay50a.exe

   where <drive> is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen. When you are prompted to restart the
   computer, do so.
