RESOLUTION ========== To resolve this issue, follow these steps: 1. Clean the CD-ROM for the program. To do so, gently wipe the silver side of the CD-ROM with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Do not use paper cloth which can scratch the plastic and leave streaks. When you clean the CD-ROM, wipe from the center of the disc outward; do not use a circular motion. 2. Remove Streets 98 and Trip Planner 98. To do so, follow these steps: a. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. b. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. c. If Microsoft Expedia Streets 98 or Microsoft Expedia Streets 98 Deluxe is installed, click Microsoft Expedia Streets 98 or Microsoft Expedia Streets 98 Deluxe, and then click Add/Remove. If neither of these programs is installed, proceed to step E. d. Click Remove All, and then follow the instructions on the screen to finish removing the program. e. If Microsoft Expedia Trip Planner 98 is installed, click Microsoft Expedia Trip Planner 98, and then click Add/Remove. f. Click Remove All, and then follow the instructions on the screen to finish removing the program. g. Restart the computer. 3. Run ScanDisk to check the hard disk for errors, and fix any problems it finds. To do so, follow these steps: a. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click ScanDisk. b. Click your hard disk. If more than one hard disk is installed in the computer, press and hold down the CTRL key and then click to select all of the hard disks. c. Click Thorough, and then click Start. 4. Reinstall the program or programs you removed. To do this, insert the installation CD-ROM for the program into the CD-ROM drive, and then follow the instructions on the screen to finish reinstalling the program. NOTE: Repeat this step for each program you removed. If the installation program does not start automatically, follow these steps: a. Click Start, and then click Run. b. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK " :\setup.exe " (without the quotation marks) where is the letter of the CD-ROM drive that contains the installation CD-ROM for the program. c. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing the program. Expedia Streets, Expedia Trip Planner, and Encarta Virtual Globe use Internet Explorer to display all Web-based content. NOTE: Reinstalling Internet Explorer 3.02 does not resolve this issue.
