XADM: Extension "SMTP," "MS," or "MSFB" Could Not Be Loaded

SYMPTOMS

When you access the property page of the Internet Mail Connector (IMC), the Microsoft Mail Connector or the Free and Busy connector, the following error message may appear:

IMC:

   Extension "SMTP" could not be loaded. The specified module could not be
   found.

Microsoft Mail Connector:

   Extension "MS" could not be loaded. The specified module could not be
   found.

Free and Busy Connector:

   Extension "MSFB" could not be loaded. The specified module could not be
   found.

RESOLUTION

The following procedure may resolve this problem:

Re-share the "ADD-INS" sub-directory located in the EXCHSRVR main directory with the permissions of everyone/full control (this is the default).

The second error can also occur if Msvcrt.dll is missing from the \Winnt\System32 directory.
