SUMMARY
=======

This article explains how to adjust the horizontal position of QuickShelf when
using Small Buttons. You can do this by editing the QuickShelf .ini file.

Bookshelf '95 for Windows 95 and Bookshelf '96-'97 for Windows, installs the
32-bit version of QuickShelf on Microsoft Windows 95. This version does not have
a small-buttons mode, but has an option called Auto Fit Into Title Bar Area. It
is not possible to reposition 32-bit Quickshelf in Auto Fit mode.

When Bookshelf '95 for Windows 95 and Bookshelf '96-'97 are installed on a
Windows 3.x computer, they install as 16-bit programs. Bookshelf for Windows,
1994 and 1995 editions, also install as 16-bit programs.

ADJUSTING the HORIZONTAL POSITON of QUICKSHELF
----------------------------------------------

To adjust the horizontal position of QuickShelf (16-bit) when using Small
Buttons, do the following:

1. If you are running QuickShelf, close it by clicking the down arrow button,
   and then click Exit.

2. If you are using Windows 3.1x, click Run from the File menu in Program
   Manager.

   If you are using Windows 95, click the Start button, and then click Run.

3. Type one of the following lines, and then click OK:

      qshelf.ini      (for Bookshelf 1994)
      qshelf95.ini    (for Bookshelf 1995 or Bookshelf '95 for Windows 95)
      qshelf96.ini    (for Bookshelf '96-'97)

4. Under the [OPTIONS] section of the .ini file, locate the line RightPos= or X=
   and change the number. The smaller the number, the further to the left the
   QuickShelf toolbar will appear on the screen. For example:
   a. Enter "RightPos=1" (without the quotation marks).

   b. Close the file and click Yes when prompted to save changes.

5. If you are using Windows 95, do the following. If you are not using Windows
   95 continue to step 6.
   a. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

   b. Click Modems.

   c. Click Properties.

   d. Click the Connection tab.

   e. Click Advanced. Make sure the Use Error Control and Use Flow Control check
      boxes are selected.

6. Run QuickShelf and notice that QuickShelf appears in the upper-left corner of
   the screen.

   NOTE: Changing to a larger number than the screen size displays allows
   QuickShelf to run; however QuickShelf will not be visible on the screen. For
   example, RightPos=1000 will place QuickShelf beyond the visible edge of the
   screen.

Entries for the qshelf.ini, qshelf95.ini, or qshelf96.ini will not affect
placement of QuickShelf, if either the Large Buttons or Regular Buttons are
used.

When Large Buttons or Regular Buttons are used, placement of QuickShelf is done
by simply dragging QuickShelf to the desired location.
