DOCUMENT:Q120956 12-FEB-2002 [powerpt] TITLE :PPT: Presentation Using Template Ignores Default Setting PRODUCT :Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows PROD/VER::4.0,4.0a,4.0c,7.0 OPER/SYS: KEYWORDS:kbusage ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0 - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 4.0c - Microsoft PowerPoint for Macintosh, version 4.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 version of this article, see Q291930. For a Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 version of this article, see Q212305. SYMPTOMS ======== If you format the default presentation (called Blank Presentation.pot in PowerPoint 7.0, and Default.ppt in PowerPoint 4.0) with a custom orientation and/or size, and save your changes, when you choose a new presentation with a specific template, the presentation does not use the new default slide settings. RESOLUTION ========== To keep your custom slide setup, choose Blank Presentation, then add the desired template rather than selecting the Template option in the New Presentation dialog box. On the File menu, click New, and then click Blank Presentation. The new presentation follows the default template. Click the Template button in the lower-right corner of the PowerPoint window, or click Presentation Template on the Format menu and select the desired template. The template is added without changing the desired orientation and size. MORE INFORMATION ================ If you create a presentation based on a template, the size of the presentation is determined by the template. If you create a presentation based on the AutoContent Wizard, the size of the slide is determined by the Wizard. PowerPoint uses the saved information in the default presentation file only when you choose the blank presentation option. ` Additional query words: 4.00 4.00a 4.00c power point powerpt 7.00 winppt ppt95 ====================================================================== Keywords : kbusage Technology : kbHWMAC kbOSMAC kbPowerPtSearch kbPowerPt95 kbZNotKeyword2 kbPowerptMacSearch kbPowerPt95Search kbPowerPt400 kbPowerPt400Mac kbPowerPt400c kbPowerPt400a Version : :4.0,4.0a,4.0c,7.0 Hardware : MAC x86 Issue type : kbhowto ============================================================================= THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE MICROSOFT KNOWLEDGE BASE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
