XCLN: Application Error Occurs When Faxing from Word

• Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, version 4.0
• Microsoft Mail for PC Networks, versions 3.0, 3.2, 3.2a, 3.5
• Microsoft Mail Gateway to Fax, version 3.2

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Exchange client for Windows 3.x will generate an Application Error when you send faxes to the Microsoft Mail for PC Networks fax gateway directly from Microsoft Word. The following Application Error will be displayed after you select the appropriate profile and enter your password.

MSFAXSND caused a Stack Fault in module EMSUIX.DLL at 0005:0BC4.

MORE INFORMATION

The FAX will never be sent and you will need to reboot the computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in version 4.0 of the Microsoft Exchange client for Windows 3.x when used in conjunction with the Microsoft Mail Gateway to Fax. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
