Abstracts Appear in Search Results if an Anchor Is Defined in Script Blocks

SYMPTOMS

With Index Server Search 3.0 and Index Server, if you query for an expression, abstracts of the JavaScript code appear in the Search result if there is an anchor defined in the script block. For example:

  <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
  function CreateWin(titre,param,url){
  //<A HREF="......................................"></A>
   if (param=="") {
   ...
  </SCRIPT> 

If you remove the comment line with the anchor, abstracts of the JavaScript code do not appear anymore.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0 service pack that contains this fix.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do not put anchors inside script blocks.
