Exception C0000008 (INVALID_HANDLE) Occurs When Restarting ASP Applications

SYMPTOMS
When an ASP application is updated under very heavy stress, Internet
Information Server (IIS) may cause an access violation and the service
will stop servicing requests. The only way to stop IIS is to restart the
server.

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Information Server version 4.0.  This problem was first corrected in Windows NT version 4.0 Service Pack 5.
