"PMAdmin Check Account /account" Switch Does Not Work As Intended

SYMPTOMS

"PMAdmin Check Account /account:2" returns erroneous responses of "Server connection failed" when account credentials are valid, or "Account password valid" when credentials passed are not valid. These conditions are also true of /Account:0 but not of /Account:1.


CAUSE

A bug in the RTM version of Site Server 3.0 PMAdmin.vbs causes the /Account switch to only check for value 1. This checks the Authentication Service Windows NT Impersonation account for Windows NT access.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Site Server version 3.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information about obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
