Content Deployment Does Not Synchronize the Password

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Management Console Publishing or Webadmin accepts an incorrect password for the default user account. As a result, projects that are run while logged in with this user account and password will be aborted.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the default user account has an invalid password because the password has expired or the password has been changed through User Manager. When this occurs, Microsoft Management Console does not detect the changes.

RESOLUTION

If you change the password of your domain user account, change the password in Microsoft Management Console. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Run Publishing Microsoft Management Console.

2. Right-click the server, and then click Set Authentication.

3. Enter the correct credentials for the user account to be used.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site Server 3.0.
