The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Site Server Gatherer service may stop responding during startup.
The account assigned for the Gatherer service to "run as" is not valid or does not have enough privileges to start a service.
Check the account assigned to the Gatherer service.
1. Go to User Manager of the local server. 2. Select the user account. 3. Select group. 4. Make sure it's part of the Administrator group.
1. Go to Control Panel 2. Select Site Server Gatherer Service. 3. Re-type the password to reflect the correct password. 4. Restart the Gatherer service.
By default, the gatherer service is assigned Local System account.
