Hit Count Incorrectly Shifts Time Zones

ID: Q237684

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

The Usage Import Adjust Time setting does not correctly change hit results.

CAUSE

In certain configurations, the hit count is incorrect when time zone adjustment is selected.

RESOLUTION

The correct configuration of Microsoft Site Server Usage Import is as follows:

Server Properties:
Localized time zone: [GMT 00:00] Monrovia, Casablanca
IP Port: 0
Import Option:
Check the Adjust requests timestamps checkbox
Set the dropdown list box to your time zone. For example:
[GMT - 05:00] Eastern Time
By configuring the IP port to zero, all traffic will be imported. SSL traffic (port 443) and HTTP traffic (port 80) will both be counted. The default configuration is to exclude all the protected traffic and only count hits to the default port 80.

By configuring the localized time zone to "Monrovia, Casablanca," daylight savings time will be taken into account. Microsoft Internet Information Server writes GMT time adjusted for daylight savings to its log files. If an IIS log is imported using the other GMT 00:00 localized time zone setting "Greenwich Mean Time, Dublin, Edinburgh, London," all times will be off by an hour during daylight savings.
