MPS Component Identifier Changed from IPS to MPSID: Q164513
|
The Microsoft Personalization System Component Identifier changed from IPS in the pre-release version to MPS in the final released version of Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0.
Any Active Server Page (ASP) scripts written using the component identification of IPS should be replaced with MPS, such as:
IPS.PropertyDatabase to MPS.PropteryDatabase
IPS.Vote to MPS.Vote
IPS.SendMail to MPS.SendMail
An improper upgrade of a pre-released version of MPS may result in an
older script using the IPS component identification to complete or
partially complete execution. If this same script is carried over to a
second system with a fresh installation of the released version of MPS,
the scripts will fail to execute. The reason for this is that the upgraded
system's registry contains erroneous references to the old IPS component
identifier.
