Radius Cannot Re-Establish a Connection to ODBC Data SourceID: Q221196
|
When Radius uses an ODBC data source for validation data, it cannot re-establish a connection to the ODBC data source if the connection is broken (database crash, database maintenance, network storm, hardware problems, electrical outages).
No retry logic was implemented for ODBC, so the service fails to start if the database is unavailable, and fails to reconnect if the server is unreachable for any reason.
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to
systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely
affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for
the next MCIS service pack.
