When you perform a Site Server Search file crawl of a UNIX workstation using the Samba software suite to implement the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, you may receive the following error message:
Error fetching URL, (8007006d - The pipe has been ended. )
Error Code: -2147024787"
This problem occurs because Samba does not support the GetFileSecurity remote API. This results in file crawls not working properly due to improper handling of the ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED error that is returned.
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft,but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Site Server service pack.
