Temporary Files Are Left after Search of Exchange Public FoldersID: Q224965
|
When you use Microsoft Site Server Search and search one or more Exchange public folders, temporary files are created to hold copies of attachments in the messages in the public folders. These files are created in the system temporary directory (defined either by a system TEMP environment variable, or %winnt%\system32). These files are not deleted, and disc space is lost.
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this
specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Site Server service pack
that contains this fix.
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services
to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server 3.0.
When the fix is installed and a search is initiated, a new subdirectory Exchci.tmp is created in the system temporary directory. All temporary files are created in this subdirectory. If any files are found in this directory when the search is initiated, they are deleted.
