The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Message Queue Server (MSMQ) may not appear in the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 Key Manager.
In the IIS 4.0 Key Manager utility, an MSMQ Enterprise Globe icon and entry called MSMQ should appear in the left pane along with WWW, SMTP, and NNTP.
MSMQ is not included because the Option Pack Setup fails to register Mqkey.dll.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
You can edit the registry to add the MSMQ entry. Use the following steps:
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Find the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Keyring\Parameters
\AddOnServices
NOTE: The above link is one path; it has been wrapped for readability.
3. On the Edit menu, click New, String Value.
4. Enter the following:
Name: MSMQ
Value: C:\Winnt\System32\Mqkey.dll
(or the path of your System32 folder if it is not the default path)
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Message Queue Server version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
