FIX: Applying the Full Download of WinNT 4.0 SP4 Removes MSMQID: Q197533
|
Applying the Year 2000 update from the full download version of Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 may uninstall Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server from your computer.
This occurs due to a problem in the Y2ksetup.exe file that is included with
the release of the full download version of Windows NT 4.0 Service
Pack 4. This problem only occurs when you have both Site Server Express and
the Windows NT Option Pack version of MSMQ installed on the same server.
The unattended uninstall file for Site Server Express (Unssx2.txt) does not
contain the MSMQ keywords needed to prevent MSMQ from being uninstalled.
When the Y2KSETUP completes, it leaves the user without MSMQ installed.
NOTE: When MSMQ has been installed from Windows NT Server Enterprise
Edition this problem does not occur. The MSMQ program group appears
directly under the Start/Programs menu if this is the case. When the
Windows NT Option Pack is used to install or upgrade MSMQ, the MSMQ program
group appears under the Start/Programs/Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack menu.
If the full download version of Service Pack 4 has been applied and your
MSMQ node has been deleted, please see the following article in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base for recovery information:
