SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Web Proxy reverse hosting feature and the resulting URL is 78 or 79 characters long, the following error(s) may occur:

The specified method is not supported
Error 501/505 - Not implemented or not supported
HTTP 400 - Bad Request


CAUSE

The HTTP method is overwritten by proxy log data when the host URL is 78 or 79 characters long.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
