The information in this article applies to:
After installing the "Proxy 2 client" on a computer running Windows 95, you may receive an access violation in Winsock.dll. This can occur if you run more than one 16-bit application that uses ODBC. The second application is the one that gets the access violation in Winsock.dll.
The Proxy Server 2.0 client on Windows 95 does not handle this correctly for 16-bit applications. Instead of failing gracefully, it causes an access violation.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Q152734 How to Obtain the Latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Proxy Server version 2.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
