FIX: Access Violation Occurs with Some Cursors on Derived TableID: Q188328
|
If you use a keyset, dynamic, or forward-only cursor on a query that is
based on a derived table, an access violation (AV) may occur. Insensitive cursors do not cause the access violation. On the client, the query will not complete, and when the query is canceled, the following error message is displayed:
Query canceled by User
DB-Library: Possible network error: Error in sending out-of-band data to SQL Server.
Net-Library error 232: ConnectionWrite (GetOverLappedResult()).
To avoid the access violation, either do not use a derived table or change the cursor type to insensitive.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server
version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 5a
for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For information about
downloading and installing the latest SQL Server Service Pack, see
http://support.microsoft.com/support/sql/.
