SMS: Setup Does Not Create "SMS Admins" Group When Installing SMS on a Backup Domain Controller

Microsoft Systems Management Server version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

When installing Systems Management Server 2.0 on a backup domain controller, the "Systems Management Server Admins" local group will not be created in the domain.

WORKAROUND

Manually create a local group in User Manager for Domains called "Systems Management Server Admins." Add the users that you want to have rights to the Systems Management Server 2.0 Administrator Console to this group.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 2.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. service pack for Systems Management Server version 2.0.
