PRB: Catalog Error 800706BE Accessing MTS via the MMC

SYMPTOMS

When accessing Microsoft Transaction Server via the MMC the following error occurs:

An error occurred accessing components in the System package on this computer. Error code was 800706BE. Make sure that:

+ Microsoft Transaction Server is installed correctly.
+ If you have set a specific identity for the system package, check that the user account and password are correct, and user is a member of the local NT Administrators group.
The only option is an OK button that returns to the MMC.


CAUSE

This problem can occur if the Default Authentication Level for the machine is not set to at least Connect or the Default Impersonation Level is set to Anonymous.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem , run DCOMCNFG and click the Default Properties tab. Confirm that the Default Authentication Level is set to at least Connect. Also confirm that the Default Impersonation Level is not set to Anonymous.


STATUS

This behavior is by design.
