FIX: Updated RDS Msadc11.cab for Internet Explorer Download PRB

SYMPTOMS

When using Remote Data Service (RDS) version 1.1 client components with Internet Explorer 3.0 client computers, the RDS 1.1 components do not download when older RDS components reside on the client computer.

CAUSE

The previous RDS version 1.1 Msadc11.cab file was updated with new files but was not given any versioning. Therefore, clients with older RDS client components will not download the newer components in the Msadc11.cab.

RESOLUTION

The Msadc11.cab is available for download. Please see the REFERENCES section for information on downloading the new file.

When replacing the Msadc11.cab file, the codebase line should be updated to reflect the new version of the CAB file as follows:

   CODEBASE="HTTP://<%=Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME")%>/MSADC
     /mdsadc11.cab#version=1,1,0,1">

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug has been corrected in the updated Msadc11.cab file.

MORE INFORMATION

The new CAB file contains the same components as the older RDS 1.1 CAB file except that it is versioned and cleans up older versions of the RDS components on the client computers.
