This article explains how to enable a public Contacts folder so that you can access it while working in Microsoft Word.

To enable a public Contacts folder for access from Word:
- Make sure the client in question has the Outlook Address Book service enabled within the mail profile.
- Create a public Contacts folder. Enter a contact or a series of contacts.
- Open the properties of the public Contacts folder, click the Outlook Address Book tab, and make sure that the Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book check box is selected.
- Start Microsoft Word, and on the Tools menu, click Envelopes and Labels.
- Click the Book icon to pull up the Address listing.
- On the top left is the Show names from the option, and to the right of that is a box that contains a list of Address Books to view. Click the down arrow.
- Select the public Contacts folder that was created in step 2.
