XCLN: Profile Name Is Not Valid Starting Macintosh Exchange or Outlook Client

• Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition, version 8.0
• Microsoft Exchange Macintosh client, versions 4.0, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

When you start the Microsoft Exchange client for the Macintosh, the following error message appears if a profile password is entered when one does not exist:

The profile name is not valid. Enter a valid profile name.

CAUSE

A profile password has not been set on the profile selected.

WORKAROUND

Delete the contents of the Profile Password text box and click OK.
