XCLN: UPS Service causes Outlook 98 Setup to Fail

• Microsoft Outlook Windows NT client, version 8.5

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Microsoft Outlook 98 on a computer that has an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) service running, you may receive the following message at the end of the Setup program:

Installation is incomplete

Setup will now restart Windows. Save any work and close all applications
before clicking OK.

The following Outlook 98 and Internet Explorer 4.01 components were not
installed.

Corporate or E-Mail Workgroup

CAUSE

UPS service is running.

WORKAROUND

Remove Outlook 98 using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel. Stop the UPS service (Control Panel, Services), and run the Outlook 98 Setup program again.
